Recently, the reporter visited the wastewater treatment area of Suzhou Luosen Auxiliary Co., Ltd. under the leadership of Jiang Fasheng, who was in charge of the plant, where six resin adsorption towers stood and were particularly eye-catching. As the last barrier of chemical wastewater treatment, these towers will make the wastewater, which has undergone nearly 10 treatment processes, really clear.
 
Along the pipeline, the treated chemical wastewater flew out from the discharge port, which was not only clear but also odorless. “The wastewater from the plant is treated to satisfy industrial water standards, and even if it is not reused, it is fine to discharge directly into the river.” Pointing to a pool of clear water, Jiang Fasheng said proudly.
 
“There is no substitute for ecology; it is unconscious when it is used and hard to find again when it is lost.” As a long-standing local chemical company, Luosen Auxiliary has been aware of this point for a long time. In recent years, Luosen Auxiliary has been actively adapting to the current trend of sustainable development and practicing the concept of green chemical industry, so as to control the environmental pollution caused by chemical production at source, starting from “a drop of water”.
 
The synthetic chemical p-nitroaniline and its derivatives are the main products of Luosen Auxiliary, which are widely applied in pesticide, dye and pharmaceutical industries with high domestic and international demands. However, a large amount of chemical wastewater is generated during the production of such products, and the organic waste in them is difficult to degrade in nature, and direct discharge will have an impact on the environment.
 
“Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. Environmental protection is not only the social responsibility of the enterprise, but also an important guarantee for the sustainable development of society in the future.” Li Weimin, General Manager of Luosen Auxiliary, expressed that the plant produces about 300 tons of chemical wastewater on average each day. To remove the organic waste more effectively, the Company has continuously invested in improving the treatment technology in the past two years, introducing advanced processes such as adsorption resin and Fenton reduction method on the basis of the original treatment process, forming a more complete wastewater treatment chain and minimizing the impact on the environment.
 
Returning our attention to the resin adsorption towers in the wastewater treatment area, each tower contains 8 tons of fish roe shaped adsorption resin, which not only features strong concentration and separation of organic waste, but is also easily regenerated and reusable. There're several Fenton tanks not far from the towers, where the wastewater enters and degrades the organic matter through a series of chemical reactions, and another widely used chemical, p-phenylenediamine, is produced in the process. The organic waste collected in various parts of the wastewater treatment area will eventually be pooled through solvents and sent to a qualified third-party organization for treatment.
 
From the highly effective and environmentally friendly resin adsorption to the Fenton reduction with dual effects, Luosen Auxiliary makes every effort to purify every drop of water, meanwhile bringing the concept of recycling, clean production, energy saving and emission reduction into full play. This year, the Company invested nearly RMB 10 million to start the “Three-effect Evaporation” project, upon completion of the whole project, it will not only achieve zero discharge of chemical wastewater, but also produce the marketable chemical ammonium chloride again to enhance the benefits.
 
Green chemical industry requires not only the treatment of water, but also the treatment of gas. Last year, Luosen Auxiliary introduced the “closed loop” project, which is a special treatment process to recycle the chemical waste gas produced, with no external emissions and no pollution, so that chemical production produces no intense smokes and unpleasant odors.
 
“Previously, chemical enterprises generally evoked the feeling of high energy consumption and high pollution, but with the emergence of a series of resource and environmental problems, upgrading to green chemicals has been the general trend, and it is hoped that through our own efforts to reduce and eliminate pollution at source, we can break people's inherent impression of chemical enterprises.” Said Li Weimin.
